The process of extracting, holding onto and eliminating environmental
toxins, industrialtoxins and heavy metals we encounter daily that constitute hindrance to healing from the body is referred
to as chelation. This process can be can be done quarterly to keep toxins at bay and maintain good health. The word
chelation is derived from the Greek word chele that means claw (like that of a scorpion or crab). One way to think about the
chelation process is to compare it to the way we unclog our drains. We add a chemical to our drain. It dissolves the blockage.
The resulting compound is removed from the drain using the existing plumbing system. Chelation process works in a similar
manner on our body.
Oral chelation with herbs & supplements
Oral chelation can serve as a convenient, non-invasive, long-term health maintenance and prevention program. The
gradual dosage delivery system significantly reduces the risk of side effects associated with Intravenous chelation therapy.
The three most effective, safe and natural supplements, when combined can create natural chelation are Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA),
cilantro, and chlorella (which is not a chelator when used by itself), when used together and supported with strong mineral
therapy, provide the ultimate in safe chelation for a broad array of heavy metals. It was the work of Dr. Allan Greenburg
who brought these three agents together for the first time and tested to prove their effectiveness
A heavy metal chelator
should be able to permeate the cell easily and chelate the heavy metals Alpha lipoic acid satisfy at least two of the above
criteria; which are the absorption into the intracellular environment and complexing metals previously bound to other
sulfhydryl proteins. ALA when found unbound in the circulation, is able to trap circulating heavy metals, thus preventing
cellular damage caused by heavy metal toxicity. The fact that free ALA crosses the blood brain barrier is significant because
the brain readily accumulates lead and mercury, where these metals are stored intracellularly in glial tissue.”ALA scavenges
hydroxyl radicals and can remove heavy metals by chelation and regenerates other antioxidants like glutathione, vitamin C,
Co enzyme Q10 and vitamin E – hence it is referred to an ideal chelator
Cilantro galvanizes toxic metals from
the brain and other tissues. A researcher named Dr. Yoshiaki Omura, using bioenergetic measures, discovered that some patients
excreted more toxic metals after consuming a Chinese soup containing cilantro. Cilantro contains some active principle that
effectively binds (and releases) mercury and crosses the blood brain barrier. Cilantro stimulates the body's release of mercury
and other heavy metals from the brain and CNS into other tissue. Cilantro’s postulated mechanism of action is to act
as a reducing agent changing the charge on the intracellular mercury to a neutral state allowing mercury to diffuse down its
concentration gradient into connective tissue.
Chlorella plays an important role in mercury elimination because
the majority of mercury is rid through stool. Once the mercury burden is lowered from the intestines, mercury from other body
tissues will more readily migrate into the intestines -- where chlorella will effectively remove it. It is the fibrous material
in Chlorella that has been shown to bind with heavy metals and pesticides like PCBs that can accumulate in our bodies. Chlorella
traps toxic metals in the GI tract and acts as an ion exchange resin. The detoxification capability of Chlorella is due to
its unique cell wall and the material associated with it.
The body has the inherent capability to detoxify itself, but it cannot do this if its elimination channels are blocked and
calcified due to years of degenerative living. Imagine a vacuum cleaner with a dust bag that is completely stuffed. You can
try and vacuum up dirt (toxins) all you want, but until you clear the dust bag, not much will happen. In fact, it could even
make the mess temporarily worse, if the vacuum spews dust back into the air. Read moore

Colon Cleanser
Chlorella's cleansing action on the bowel and other elimination channels, as well as its protection of the liver,
helps keep the blood clean. Clean blood assures that metabolic wastes are efficiently carried away from the tissues. Chlorella
gets its name from the high amount of chlorophyll it possesses. Chlorella contains more Chlorophyll per gram than any other
plant. Chlorella can speed up the rate of cleansing of the bowel, bloodstream and liver, by supplying plenty of chlorophyll.
Chlorella and Spirulina are used as nutrient-dense foods and sources of fine chemicals in their most natural forms. They have
significant amounts of lipid, protein, chlorophyll, carotenoids, vitamins, minerals, and unique pigments.
Because cilantro
changes the electric charge on intracellular deposits of heavy metals to a neutral state, which relaxes their tight bond to
body tissue, freeing them up to be flushed from the body. Studies have shown that levels of mercury, lead, and aluminum in
the urine increase significantly after consuming large amounts of cilantro. It seems that cilantro changes the electric charge
on intracellular deposits of heavy metals to a neutral state, which relaxes their tight bond to body tissue, freeing them
up to be flushed from the body. Once free, the next step is to actually facilitate the removal of the metals from the body.
And here’s where chlorella comes in. Chlorella possesses the capacity to absorb heavy metals. This property has been
exploited as a means for treating industrial effluent that contains heavy metals before it is discharged, and to recover the
bio-available fraction of the metal in the process. In studies undertaken in Germany, high doses of chlorella have been found
to be very effective in eliminating heavy metals from the body – from the brain, intestinal wall, muscles, ligaments,
connective tissue, and bone.
Together, these herbs create a powerful oral chelation formula.
Once cleaned out after 42-days, a two week cleanse every 3-4 months should be enough to keep you relatively metal free –
unless you eat a lot of high-mercury fish, or have more than a few amalgam fillings, in which case every 2 months is advisable.
Incidentally, you do not want to use a chelation formula every day. Your body actually needs small amounts of some heavy metals.
This is the basis of healing daily; Recover daily protocol
N-acetyl cysteine is the go to supplement needed
to build up levels of cystein and glutathione levels needed for the liver to rid the body of toxins and heavy metals. It is
essential for sulphurdryl anti-oxidant resources and reserves of the body. N-acetyl cysteine assists the body to neutralize
damaging effects of mercury, heavy metals, lead, cadinum, dental amalgam fillings and tobacco smoke. The sulfhydryl balance
has been associated with our ability to withstand microbial and viral attack. N-acetyl cysteine is a chelator of heavy metals.
In other words, NAC binds to toxic heavy metals such as mercury and lead, and removes them from the body. This is a slow process,
but most chelating agents, such as EDTA, are generally given intravenously. NAC is one of the most effective oral chelating
agents. Taken regularly over a period of time, NAC will remove many toxic heavy metals from the body.
Toxic metals
can accumulate in the body over time from many sources such as drinking water and possibly even from tooth fillings made of
silver-mercury amalgam. These heavy metals catalyze free-radical reactions. In other words, they initiate free-radical reactions
without being used up during the reaction. So these heavy metals continue to cause free radical damage as long as they are
present in the body. N-acetyl cysteine is amore stable compound than taking oral cysteine. Its only shortcoming is that as
it is being metabolized, it is oxidized and may become insoluble and form kidney stones. To solve this problem, it is recommended
to take Vitamin C or vitamin C rich foods to prevent the oxidation of N-acetyl Cysteine. Individuals that suffers from diabetes
are advised to consult with their holistic doctor before using N-acetyl cysteine as it may have insulin blocking effect
Safety issues associated with botanicals
Herbal
remedies should be approached with the same caution as with conventional drugs, especially in individuals taking synthetic
drugs because of herb – drug interactions. Individuals taking diuretics need to be particularly careful with herbs with
high potassium content. One of the main problems with assessing natural products for health benefits is the lack of good clinical
trial data. Most of the evidence is, at best, anecdotal involving the uncontrolled use of products of unknown quality. There
is no doubt that many of these traditional “medicines” are biologically active and, by a process of natural selection,
may be beneficial. However, like pharmaceutical products, the beneficial effects are likely to be dose-dependent, and it is
likely that these active agents will have a spectrum of biological activity that may cause toxicity. Without good clinical
trial data and with no quality control of the product, it is unlikely these agents will consistently provide therapeutic benefit. Please read moore

of the wastes, the toxins are reabsorbed back into our body and can make us more sick that we may end up in the hospital. As
botanical are taken to pull toxic wastes from the body,it is advisable to take plenty of fluids and high fiber foods to facilitate
kidney and bowel elimination. Similarly, one should also do the following in this order:- Dry skin brushing, detox bath
and/or far infra red sauna, the chi machine and the ionic foot detox. This can be followed by lymphatic massage and/or rebounder.

Inner cleansing to eliminate the thousands of toxins we inhale and ingest everyday is an
essential component of any healing program as well as preventing disease. Removing blockages, heavy metals, drugs, alcohol,
chemicals, carcinogenic materials and other by-products of the modern lifestyle are absolutely critical in creating and maintaining
a healthy lifestyle. Please read moore
A healing crisis is the result of the body working to eliminate waste products through all elimination
channels and to set the stage for regeneration. The end result: old tissues are replaced with new ones. When any treatment
or cleansing program causes a large scale die-off of microbes, a significant amount of wastes are released into the body.
The more microbes present, and the stronger their endotoxins, the stronger the cleansing reaction. When any treatment or de-tox
causes the organs of the body to release their stored poisons and toxins, particularly the liver, which is a storehouse of
drug and poison residues, a cleansing reaction usually take place. Any program, such as fasting, which causes a rapid deterioration
of fat cells (which are a storehouse for toxins), can cause a get-well crisis as toxins previously lodged in the fat cells
are released. Please read moore
Therapeutic action: This Heavy Metal Detox Formula stimulates the body's release of mercury and other heavy metals from
the brain and central nervous system into other tissue for safe removal from the body. The herbs in this formula aid in detoxifying
by denaturing the toxins, protecting and restoring normal cellular functions while promoting elimination.
What are Heavy
Metals and what do they do to our body?There are 35 metals that concern us because of occupational or residential exposure;
23 of these are the heavy elements or "heavy metals": antimony, arsenic, bismuth, cadmium, cerium, chromium, cobalt,
copper, gallium, gold, iron, lead, manganese, mercury, nickel, platinum, silver, tellurium, thallium, tin, uranium, vanadium,
and zinc
Heavy metals become toxic when they are not metabolized by the body and accumulate in the soft tissues. Heavy
metals may enter the human body through food, water, air, or absorption through the skin when they come in contact with humans
in agriculture and in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, industrial, or residential settings.
Heavy metal toxicity can result
in damaged or reduced mental and central nervous function, lower energy levels, and damage to blood composition, lungs, kidneys,
liver, and other vital organs. Long-term exposure may result in slowly progressing physical, muscular, and neurological degenerative
processes that mimic Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, muscular dystrophy, and multiple sclerosis.
Mercury Poisoning:
A dangerous heavy metal
According to a 2001 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study, one of 10
American women of childbearing age is at risk for having a baby born with neurological problems due to in utero mercury exposure.
Statistically, that means 375,000 babies are at risk every year. Nearly six million women who might be considering having
a child already have mercury levels above EPA safety guidelines.
According to the federal Agency for Toxic Substances
and Disease Registry, long-term human exposure to mercury in either organic or inorganic form "can permanently damage
the brain, kidneys, and developing fetuses."
Lead Poisoning: Another dangerous heavy metal
Lead can
be found in paint, water and various household items. Many homes built in the U.S. before 1978 and ninety percent of houses
built before 1940 contain lead paint. A contemporary risk of lead poisoning comes from scented candles. According to the Environmental
Illness Society of Canada, some candle makers are still using lead cores in their wicks, which can result in lead particles
being emitted into the air of a home.
High levels of exposure may result in toxic biochemical effects in humans which
in turn cause problems in the synthesis of hemoglobin, effects on the kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, joints and reproductive
system, and acute or chronic damage to the nervous system.
The history of environmental and heavy metal detoxification or chelation
The concept
of chelation is based on the observation that when a certain amino acid complex called EDTA (ethylene-diamine-tetra-acetic
acid) comes in contact with certain positively charged metals and other substances such as lead, iron, copper, calcium, magnesium,
zinc, plutonium and manganese, it grabs them (hence the chele or claw), and removes them. Chelation therapy is the process
of removing from the body the undesirable ionic material by the infusion, or taking orally, of an organic compound which has
suitable chelating properties. EDTA is a synthetic amino acid first used in the 1940's for treatment of heavy metal poisoning.
It is widely recognized as effective for that use as well as certain others, including emergency treatment of hypocalcaemia
and the control of ventricular arrhythmias associated with digitalis toxicity. Studies by the National Academy of Sciences/National
Research Council in the late 1960's indicated that EDTA was considered possibly effective in the treatment of occlusive vascular
disorders caused by arteriosclerosis. EDTA grabs metallic action such as Lead or Calcium from the body and forms a stable
compound that is then excreted from the system. The stability of this bond is vital to success in chelation therapy. If the
bond is weak, other chemicals can break this bond to form their own compounds. . The protective influence of EDTA would be
enhanced by an appreciable presence of antioxidant nutrients such as vitamins A, C and E, selenium, and amino acid complexes
such as glutathione peroxidase. These not only mop up free radicals but also assist in reinforcing the stability of cell membranes
In describing the usefulness of EDTA herbal chelation, two-time Nobel Prize winning scientist Dr. Linus Pauling stated,
"Published research and extensive clinical experience showed that EDTA helps reduce and prevent arteriosclerotic plaques,
thus improving blood flow to the heart and other organs. The scientific evidence indicates that a course of EDTA herbal chelation
therapy might eliminate the need for bypass surgery. Herbal chelation has an equally valid rationale for use as preventive
treatment."
How the human body system operates on the chelation principle The human digestive process is an excellent example of how chelation takes place. Digestion and absorption of foods involves
the chelation of protein substances (amino acids) with minerals for transportation to their various destinations, or in which
blood cells latch on to, and thus acquire, iron. Hemoglobin is a chelate of iron (as is the enzyme catalase that is used by
our bodies to 'switch off' the free radical activity of hydrogen peroxide). When we eat meat or green vegetables which contain
iron, after the digestive process has released the iron from the food in which it is bound, it has to be combined (chelated)
with amino acids so that it can be carried through the intestinal mucous membranes into the bloodstream.
Also
if one drink tea with meal, the tannin in the tea will chelate with the iron (forming insoluble iron tannate) before it gets
absorbed. In this situation, the body does not get any iron from our food. On the other hand, if we take some foods which
are rich in Vitamin C (or take Vitamin C supplement) with our iron rich meal, the ascorbic acid (or Vitamin C) will chelate
with the iron and enhance and speed its absorption. The iron, once in the bloodstream, is released from the proteins with
which it was chelated for transportation.
Chelation therapy is commonly used for the treatment of atherosclerosis
and other chronic degenerative diseases involving the circulatory system. Many scientists suggest that the beneficial
effect of chelation treatment is from the removal of metallic catalysts that causes excessive free radical proliferation.
This reduces the oxidation of lipids, DNA, enzyme systems and lipoproteins. The chelation halts the bad effects and initiates
the body's healing process, often reversing the damage. It removes the calcium and copper anions from the blood stream. The
plaque lining the artery walls are made porous and brittle. Eventually they may get dislodged. Even if only a microscopic
layer of the plaque is removed, it, along with a smoothening of the artery wall due to the healing of the cells that line
the arteries, can improve the blood flow to the artery muscles substantially. This can prevent artery spasm and minimize or
prevent angina pain. Many patients who could not walk due to muscle pain or angina pain have reported that they can walk without
pain after chelation therapy
Other Advantages of chelation In order to prevent absorbed
nutrients from precipitation resulting from the interaction of nutrients, such as iron forming precipitation with phosphorus,
upon entering plant cells cationic nutrients will immediately form chelates with organic acids such as citric acids, malonic
cid, and some amino acids. This chelation process will then enable the nutrients to move freely inside the plants. Chelation
in soil increases nutrient availability to plants. Organic substances in the soil either applied or produced by plants
or microorganisms are the natural chelating agents. The most important substances having this nature are Hydroxamate Siderophores,
Organic Acids and Amino Acids. Chelating agents as well as minerals contribute to the stability of chelates. A strong chelating
agent may bond the mineral too strongly and make it unavailable to plants. On the other hand, a weak chelating agent may not
be able to protect the chelated minerals from chemical reactions with other compounds and thereby reduce their availability
to plants. Combination of chelating agents can improve product stability and broaden product effectiveness
Blocks Calcium
Absorption, Repairs Damaged Muscles, Improves the Cell Energy Production It has been established that calcium passes
through the damaged cell walls into the cells. If calcium gets deposited in arterial walls, it inhibits the enzyme activity
which, in turn, affects the production of energy, the movement of raw material, finished products, and waste products from
the cell. The cells become energy starved and become acidic as a result. This can lead to premature aging, unbalanced calcium/magnesium
ratios, free radical activity, local toxicity, oxygen deficit, nutritional imbalance, etc.The cells that have become energy
starved and acidic start to attract calcium ions, drawing them into the cell. This, further, blocks energy production. The
result is degenerative cardiovascular conditions. When this happens, the muscles that surround the arteries go into spasm.
Orthodox doctors treat this problem with calcium channel blockers. The problem is that calcium channel blockers block the
calcium intake by the muscles; but it does nothing to cure the underlying problems of cell damage. When EDTA removes
the toxic metal ions such as lead, calcium, mercury, cadmium, copper, iron, and aluminum from the blood stream, there is no
more free calcium available to produce plaque. It means that the cells can start to repair themselves. Their production of
energy increases. As more and more cells rebuild, our body becomes healthier. They can ward off intruders. The result is that
we have started a salvage and regeneration activity that repairs previously damaged muscles and heart. And the whole body
benefits as a result.
Reduces Blood Stickiness or Clotting
EDTA is believed
to reduce the blood platelet formation. This makes the blood less "sticky. The blood can now flow through narrow arteries.
It can flow through even partially blocked arteries minimizing the effect of the blockage.
Normalizes Abnormal Cholesterol and HDL Levels There are two types of cholesterol: the good cholesterol
called HDL and the bad cholesterol called LDL. What we want is a high amount of HDL in our blood along with a low level of
LDL. We also desire low total cholesterol. Researchers have found that EDTA infusion, combined with vitamin and mineral supplements,
raised the good (HDL) cholesterol and lowered the bad (LDL) cholesterol. If the HDL was low, it was raised; however, if it
was already high, its level remains the same. Similarly, the LDL was lowered if it was high. EDTA optimizes the ratio of HDL
and LDL.
Removes Calcium from the Plaque EDTA infusion removes the calcium
from the blood stream. In a chemical reaction, if you have an area low in concentration of a substance surrounded by an area
that is rich in that substance, the substance will diffuse from the enriched area to that which is depleted of it ultimately
leveling the concentration. The same thing happens to our body. When the blood is cleaned off the calcium, the calcium from
the plaque and the body tissues (That is enriched with it) migrate into the blood. This gets swept away by the new EDTA infusion.
This has the effect of removing most of the calcium from the plaque, making it softer and possibly even breaking away chunks
of it from the artery walls.
Cancer Treatment
Free radicals play an important role in the genesis of cancer.
By removing the metallic anions from the blood stream, EDTA helps the cells to remain healthy and helps the damaged cells
to heal. Research has shown a decrease in the incidence of death by cancer after EDTA treatment. We don't know the mechanism
of action. In some forms of cancer, the use of EDTA was found to strip the tumor cells of their protective coat, allowing
other mechanisms (such as protein digesting enzymes) to destroy the tumors
Mental Health Researchers have noticed that patients who have undergone chelation treatment are less depressed. They were more alert,
and had better concentration and memory. Opponents of chelation therapy dismiss this as "placebo effect."
Chelation therapists attribute this improvement in mental health to an improvement in the overall cellular nutrition as
a result of better circulation resulted from the chelation treatment. Another possibility is that by removing the harmful
toxins from the blood stream, the brain and central nervous system are protected from harmful effects of these toxins. This
improves the overall functioning of the brain that translates into better memory and mental conditions.
The
history behind chelation therapies
A person will get well when they are tired of being
sick- Lao Tzu in the Tao Te chin
For the most common forms of heavy metal intoxication—those
involving lead, arsenic or mercury—the standard of care in the USA dictates the use of dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA).Other
chelating agents, such as 2,3-dimercapto-1-propanesulfonic acid (DMPS) and alpha lipoic acid (ALA), are used in conventional
and alternative medicine.Chelating agents were introduced into medicine as a result of the use of poison gas in World War
I. The first widely used chelating agent, the organic dithiol compound dimercaprol (also named British Anti-Lewisite or BAL),
was used as an antidote to the arsenic-based poison gas, Lewisite. The sulphur atoms in BAL's mercaptan groups strongly bond
to the arsenic in Lewisite, forming a water-soluble compound that entered the bloodstream, allowing it to be removed from
the body by the kidneys and liver. BAL had severe side-effects. After World War II, a large number of navy personnel
suffered from lead poisoning as a result of their jobs repainting the hulls of ships. The medical use of EDTA as a lead chelating
agent was introduced. Unlike BAL, it is a synthetic amino acid and contains no mercaptans. EDTA side effects were not considered
as severe as BAL.
In the 1960s, BAL was modified into DMSA, a related dithiol with far fewer side effects. DMSA
quickly replaced both BAL and EDTA, becoming the US standard of care for the treatment of lead, arsenic, and mercury poisoning,
which it remains today.
Research in the former Soviet Union led to the introduction of DMPS, another dithiol,
as a mercury-chelating agent. The Soviets also introduced ALA, which is transformed by the body into the dithiol dihydrolipoic
acid, a mercury- and arsenic-chelating agent. DMPS has experimental status in the US FDA, while ALA is a common nutritional
supplement.
Since the 1970s, iron chelation therapy has been used as an alternative to regular phlebotomy to treat
excess iron stores in people with haemochromatosis. Other chelating agents have been discovered. They all function by
making several chemical bonds with metal ions, thus rendering them much less chemically reactive. The resulting complex is
water-soluble, allowing it to enter the bloodstream and be excreted harmlessly.
Calcium-disodium EDTA chelation
is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treating lead poisoning and heavy metal toxicity.
In 1998, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) pursued the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM), an organisation
that promotes "complementary, alternative and integrative medicine" over their advertising of EDTA chelation therapy,
with claims including "Chelation therapy is a safe, effective and relatively inexpensive treatment to restore blood flow
in victims of atherosclerosis without surgery." The FTC found that "scientific studies do not prove that EDTA chelation
therapy is an effective treatment for atherosclerosis.", and that the statements by the ACAM were false. In 1999, the
ACAM agreed to stop misrepresenting chelation therapy as effective in treating heart disease, avoiding legal proceedings.
One example of successful chelation therapy is the case of Harold McCluskey, a nuclear worker who became badly contaminated
with americium in 1976. He was treated with diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid (DTPA) over many years, removing 41 MBq (1.1
mCi) of americium from his body. His death, 11 years later, was from unrelated causes.
Chelation therapy was used
by the British after World War II to remove arsenic, lead, and other metals. Patients' conditions improved as these metals
were removed from their bodies. Treatment may be applied to the skin via a transdermal patch. Another treatment is administered
intravenously, a process that takes 2–3 hours, costs about $100 per treatment, and 20-30 treatments are often required.
Some common chelating agents are EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid), DMPS (2,3-dimercaptopropanesulfonic acid), TTFD
(thiamine tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide), and DMSA (2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid). Calcium-disodium EDTA and DMSA are only approved
for the removal of lead by the Food and Drug Administration while DMPS and TTFD are not approved by the FDA. These drugs bind
to heavy metals in the body and prevent them from binding to other agents. They are then excreted from the body. The chelating
process also removes vital nutrients such as vitamins C and E, therefore these must be supplemented.
Alternative
medicine uses chelation therapy as a non-standard treatment for some ailments, including heart disease and autism. Attempts
have been made to use it in treating kidney dysfunction, calcific band keratopathy (an eye disorder), and cancer. Currently
there is a US National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) trial being conducted on the chelation therapy's
safety and efficacy for patients with coronary artery disease.NCCAM Director Stephen E. Straus cited the "widespread
use of chelation therapy in lieu of established therapies, the lack of adequate prior research to verify its safety and effectiveness,
and the overall impact of coronary artery disease" as factors motivating the trial. The proposed study has been criticized
as unnecessary and possibly dangerous.
Some alternative medicine practitioners administer chelating agents, usually
EDTA, to patients with hardening of the arteries. The use of EDTA chelation therapy as a treatment for coronary artery disease
has not been shown to be effective and is not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).Several possible mechanisms
have been proposed, though none have been scientifically validated. The procedure might leach calcium directly from the fatty
plaques that block the arteries; stimulate the release of a hormone that removes deposited calcium or lowers cholesterol levels;
or reduce oxidative stress on the blood vessel walls.
About 5%-10% of an oral dose of EDTA is absorbed into the bloodstream,
compared with 100% of an IV dose. Yet, due to continuous daily intake, the amounts add up and can definitely achieve similar
benefits compared with IV chelation. Over the course of 5 or 6 weeks, regular use of oral EDTA can be as beneficial as a single
IV EDTA session. Each coronary bypass surgery might cost $50,000 or even up to $100,000; each angioplasty costs about $15,000;
drugs for reducing cholesterol, lowering high blood pressure, and normalizing heart rhythm bring the pharmaceutical industry
hundreds of millions of dollars each year. By contrast, the cost of chelation therapy is minimal. The degree to which
this therapy reduces the need for conventional therapies, and therefore the incomes of those previously mentioned, is the
degree to which they feel threatened by it. Powerful medical societies and government agencies, for example, lobby to keep
the knowledge about EDTA's benefits under wraps. They have harassed, vilified, and smeared physicians who have used EDTA chelation
to help their patients and, in some cases, have even driven them from their profession. The reason everyone doesn't know about
EDTA chelation therapy is politics.
