Acid reflux is essentially an over production of stomach acids that passes up through
the esophagus and causes a highly uncomfortable burning sensation.
Acid Reflux, also known as Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), is a condition which has many symptoms
that are similar to heartburn. In many cases, people suffering from Acid Reflux typically suffer from persistent heartburn
two or more days per week. In the long term, this can be very serious since, over time, the reflux of stomach acid can erode
or wear away the delicate esophagus lining. This can then lead to scar tissue, which causes swallowing problems. GERD has
also been linked to an increased risk of esophageal cancer. However, some people have Acid Reflux without heartburn. In such
cases, symptoms include chest pain, wheezing, coarseness in the throat, breathing problems, a bitter taste in the mouth, dry
coughing, interrupted sleep, tightness in the throat, and halitosis or bad breath. Acid reflux can also lead to regurgitation
of acid into the mouth, often due to overeating or bending down or going to bed right after a meal.
Enzymes make foods ripen faster so they are often taken out by processing, pasteurizing and sterilizing procedures. Foods
will have a longer shelf life but become harder to digest. And your stomach will want to produce more acid!So what do we do?
We start taking antacids tablets and pink goop to keep down acid production. Why do you think this is one of the biggest and
longest isles at the pharmacy? Same with the prescription medication, the purple pill. Your body will actually become addicted.
Heavy meals and high-fat foods can slow digestion and cause the stomach to secrete more acid, increasing the risk of acid reflux. Certain foods relax
an esophageal muscle that normally opens when food enters the stomach and then closes. A relaxed muscle does not close tightly,
allowing stomach
Acid
reflux is caused by improper food combination and eating of food at inappropriate hours that go counter to the body's biological
rhythm
To manage acid reflux, it
is advisable to combine foods wisely in a manner that prevents additional strain on the digestive system.Since
fruits, vegetables, and melons digest faster with less effort from the digestive system, it is advisable to wait before eating
them with carbohydrates and proteins that put more demands on the digestive system. We aim to introduce you to menu plans
that will not hold foods up in the stomach any longer than necessary. This prevents putrefaction and makes it possible to
eliminate within 12 – 18 hours of eating, as nature intended. We want to be sure that the foods we
eat at dinner are out of our body by the time we are having lunch the next day. Eating nutritious foods in the best possible
combinations is crucial to the rejuvenation of the liver, to re-establishing our energy level, and to ensuring that there
are two bowel movements daily. We present this program as a guide and not a rule. We want you to be flexible with yourself
in choosing the best combinations you desire.
Food and drinks such as coffee, other caffeinated drinks, spicy foods, and those high in acids
like citrus fruits can complicate and worsen acid reflux. The more you feed your stomach with aggravating
foods and drinks, the more discomfort you are likely to experience,
We
recommend eating melons alone because they are digested very quickly. Eating melons with other foods can hold up its digestion.
Since it digests easily, it can ferment and cause gaseous putrefaction and decomposition if left for too long in the stomach.
Also, the fermentation leads to the production of alcohol in the digestive tract.
Starches do not combine well with meats,
so meats should be eaten with rice, potatoes, or bread. This is because the stomach produces hydrochloric acid to digest the
meat, which is neutralized by the alkaline juices the stomach produces to digest starches. Consequently, both the carbohydrates
and the meats are undigested and they stay in the stomach for a longer period of time, causing purification, gas, and auto-intoxification
We recommend eating
the salads before the regular meals because fruits and vegetables are digested before starches and proteins. Eating salads
with starches and proteins can hold them longer than necessary in the stomach. Like the other scenarios, these can lead to
decomposition and fermentation.
The fermentation, putrefaction, gas, bad
breath, indigestion, and acid reflux are conventionally managed with antacids. What antacids do is to neutralize the acid
gas generated from improper food combinations and indigestion in the stomach that contribute to the discomfort felt by most
people. Through biofeedback mechanisms, the brain notices the absence of acid in the stomach and stimulates the productions
of copious amounts of hydrochloric acid that was neutralized by the presence of starches in a portentous diet. To alleviate
this problem, we recommend separating high proteins from starches and/or addition of lemon or lime juice to our water to supply
the needed acid the digestive system needs.
Blood is 20% acid and 80% alkali. When the proportion of acid in the blood increases, it affects the digestive system in the body and gives rise to the ailment of acidity. Acid Reflux is usually
known as heartache, acidic pain and heartburn. When the acid in the stomach travels with saliva to the throat, there is a
burning sensation and sourness in the stomach. When the patient says that he has a heart-burn and sourness has come upto the
throat, he should be given treatment for acidity.
Lemon is a fast and easy acid reflux remedy. You can squeeze half a lemon in 8oz. of water and sip it
slowly in the morning before breakfast. Or use lemon essential oil for even greater benefits. By ingesting lemon juice or essential oil the stomach temporarily reduces the excretion of digestive
acids, therefore alleviating heartburn. A very simple acid reflux remedy.Lemon essential oil has anti-bacterial properties,
which may be effective against H.pelori bacteria in the stomach and further down the digestive tract (diarrhea). If you are
interested in the alkalinity or acidity of foods you'll be amazed to know that fresh lemons are actually an alkaline
food showing up at 9.9 PH on the Ash scale. The foods we eat these days, even if you are on a healthy diet, just do not contain
enough enzymes to be digested properly in the stomach.
Taking a glass of hot lemon water in the evening is also useful. Dr. Albert in his book, Fruits for Health has written
that people have a wrong notion that lemon is acidic. As a result, because of ignorance about its medicinal effects the patients
of acidity do not use it. They should know that lemon neutralizes acids.
Causes of Acid Reflux
Just like other health conditions, there is not one specific cause of
Acid Reflux and Heartburn. However, a malfunction of a band of muscle tissue called the Lower Esophageal Sphincter (LES) can
ultimately lead to many of the problems and symptoms associated with Acid Reflux and Heartburn. The LES is a complex area
of smooth muscles and various hormones, which is responsible for the opening and closing of the lower end of the esophagus
when we eat and swallow. It normally keeps the stomach contents from regurgitating, but due to certain physical conditions
it can weaken and lose its contraction control. If this happens, the LES fails to close up and cannot maintain the pressure
barrier between stomach and esophagus. As a result, acid and pepsin from the stomach can back up and cause acidity and heartburn
in the esophagus.
The most common causes of Acid Reflux and Heartburn include:
stress
some antidepressants
and sedatives
elevated hormone levels during pregnancy
eating before going to bed
eating large meals
slower
emptying of the stomach
frequently eating greasy, fried, and fatty foods
smoking
alcohol
drinking
lots of bubbly (carbonated) beverages such as soda
diseases that weaken the esophageal muscle (such as scleroderma,
mixed connective tissue disease, or hiatal hernias)
Lemon Aid in digestion by supplying needed acid. During
acid reflux and heart burn, the stomach run out of natural acid needed for digestion. "Anti acid" work by biofeed
back mechanism. They zap stomach acid and the brain use this as an excuse to produce copious Hydrochloric acid need for digestion.Natural
lemon just supply you the need acid.
Caleb Treeze Organic Farm Stops Acid Reflux Organic and Natural is a carefully balanced mixture of certified organic unfiltered
raw apple cider vinegar, juice from the ginger plant and just the right amount of all natural garlic juice in special combination
so as to achieve almost instant relief from acid reflux.
Herbal Remedies For Acid Reflux
Chamomile
Chamomile is a flower that has been shown to be effective
in treating acid reflux and other digestive difficulties. This herb can also help relieve irritation in the throat and nose,
which may plague acid reflux sufferers. Taking a very large dose of chamomile can induce vomiting, and pregnant women should
avoid it, as it may cause miscarriage. Chamomile may interact with certain drugs, including sedatives, blood thinners or herbs
that act as sedatives or anticoagulants.
Dandelion Root
Dandelion
root is an herb that can relieve indigestion and acid reflux. It works by stimulating extra saliva production, which can neutralize
the acid in the stomach and esophagus. People taking diuretics, antacids or medication for diabetes
should check with their doctor before taking dandelion root, as a reaction may occur.
Cats Claw
Cats claw is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory herb that is effective against common digestive
problems, such as gastritis, acid reflux and gastric ulcers. It boosts the immune system as well, which is beneficial for
avoiding and fighting off various illnesses. People taking medications to suppress their immune system and people with autoimmune
disorders should not take cats claw. Cats claw can also prevent and affect pregnancy, so women who are trying to conceive,
pregnant or breastfeeding should not take it.
Slippery Elm
Slippery
elm is an herb that coats the digestive tract, providing relief to those suffering from acid reflux. It also helps the body
to produce mucus, which can have a soothing effect on digestive system as a whole. Some people may be allergic to the slippery
elm pollen, though usually they do not report reactions to taking the herb orally. Slippery elm can delay the absorption of
vitamins and medications taken with it, so it should be taken at least two hours before or after
taking other types of medications.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple
cider vinegar can help prevent and relieve acid reflux. It is best to use only organic apple
cider vinegar. The correct dosage is 2 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar to 1 cup of water three times per day. This vinegar has
other health benefits as well, including facilitating weight loss and relieving bronchitis, sore throat and cough.
From 4 a.m. until 12 noon, the body is in its eliminative phase, having had its last meal
the previous evening. This accounts for the “yucky” feeling and the desire to brush your teeth and take a shower
in the morning—a desire to eliminate. The body is said to be coming out of a fast, having had its last meal the previous
evening. Because the body is eliminating, foods that assist in elimination are encouraged during breakfast. We complete the
elimination when we brush our teeth, take a shower, and go to the bathroom. In doing these, we are yielding to a call of nature
to finish what it has started. We will introduce you to juices and breakfast recipes that aid elimination. Juices and water
are particularly crucial in assisting the elimination process.
From 12 noon until 8 p.m., the body is in a digestion or assimilation phase. Because the body is assimilating nutrients,
the first major meals of the day are best taken within this time periods. This is when lunch and dinner are served. The liver
rejuvenation plan will introduce you to nutrients that the body will assimilate and use for repair and rejuvenation of the
liver.
From 8 p.m. until 4 a.m. the body is in a repair phase.
The last meal of the day should be on or before 8 p.m. It is advisable to be in bed by 9 p.m. This is the time when the body
utilizes nutrients assimilated for repair and rejuvenation. This is when the hormones are at work building and repairing worn
out tissues
From about 8 p.m.,
the digestive system begins to shut down and hand over activities to the repair hormones. Any meal taken after this time stays
in the stomach for a long period of time. Purification, fermentation, indigestion, constipation, and weight-gain occur. Eating
after 8 p.m. is like throwing a wrench in the wheel of the human body’s rhythmic flow. Think what happens to plants
that are exposed to sunlight after sunset. In the human body, food will not be digested, and acid reflux will develop.
There are additional issues that can add to the pain of acid reflux. Wearing tight
clothing that restricts your normal digestion can increase your acid reflux symptoms. Loosen your belt a little and give your
stomach a little breathing room, you might find that a few of your symptoms ease a little as a result.Try to avoid lying down
straight after you have eaten a meal. For acid reflux sufferers, eating food and lying down should be separated by a break
of at least three hours. This gives your stomach a chance to produce the acid necessary to digest your food without encouraging
any excess to creep back up through the esophagus. Try to eat small amounts more often throughout the day and your stomach
should produce less acid.Walking even gently around the block can be enough to help ease your acid reflux symptoms. Gentle
walking after eating can help reduce the amount of acid your stomach produces as well as help it remain in the stomach where
it belongs.
Most Americans suffer stomach problems. Many lead lives of utter misery. Whether you call it heartburn or acid reflux, this
painful affliction is also associated with throat cancer. Shockingly, the problem may not be too much stomach acid, but too
little! And antacids and acid blockers may actually be making the problem worse.
Problems with our meats
For those with “O”
blood types, you will find you need more protein and will feel better if you have more protein in your body. “A"
blood types and most “B” blood types are okay with eating vegetables and grains for protein.
Our cattle have been bred to be fat. Selectively-bred cattle
in the United States today have four to ten times the fat content of beef as it naturally occurs. Most cattle in America today
are also raised in feedlots. They are not allowed to graze on their natural diet of grasses, but are fed prepared foods and
de-mineralized grains to fatten them up. Many become so sickly that they need antibiotics to stay alive, and these antibiotic
residues can remain in the meat. Cattle also often receive steroid drugs for weight gain. Changes in cattle breeding and feeding
have also eliminated the vitamin A content in beef during the last thirty years.
An excerpt
from “The Healing Power of Minerals, Special Nutrients, and Trace Elements” by Paul Bergner:
It takes a lot of energy and strength to digest beef and chicken. The body needs all of
its energy to get well. So you don’t want to put anything into your body that will take that energy away.
·Poultry in the United States is raised for about 21 days. Most of the time, their feet are
cut off when they’re first born so that the claws don’t grow and wrap around the cage wire. When they pull the
chickens out, they may lose a leg. They are not allowed to move. They are not fed any grain. They’re only fed chemical
feed that makes them grow fast. They never see the light of day; they never get any Vitamin D. They are pumped full of antibiotics
and hormones. There are some brands that are not using hormones or antibiotics, which is better, but they still never see
the light of day, and the chicken is very bad for you. At least cattle get to see daylight and get alfalfa and some natural
substances, but not chicken. On the scale of foods bad for you, chicken is next to pork. Pork is worst, and then chicken in
America. Most of these chickens have their bottom beak cut off so they don't peck each other to death. They get a hysteria
kind of thing going on. I just have to think that the hormones that are raging through their bodies are just horrible. Many
of them could not live more than a few more days; they are on the verge of dying at that point. They just kill those chickens
and send them to market and we eat them up. If you can find free-range chickens with no additives or injections, that kind
of chicken could actually replace fish for the “O” blood types for the protocols, but only if it’s free-range
chicken. You almost need to know who raises them to be sure.
·Pork is the garbage disposal of the world. A pig will eat anything it can get. It’s the only enemy
to the rattle snake and the stomach toxins go throughout the pork. A rattle snake will bite a pig, but it will not kill the
pig because its blood is so toxic anyway. Pigs eat rattle snakes, dead mice, and dead rats. It will eat garbage. As a matter
of fact, there are many stories about towns becoming very wealthy as they start to feed their garbage to pigs and start raising
pigs. Over time, the town eventually dies out from illness and cancers. The pigs have a gland on the bottom of their feet
where gooey, gooey stuff comes out. All considered, they are just as unclean as can be. The amount of toxins and poisons that
are linked to pork is unbelievable and eating pork should be avoided like the plague. It is something I have not been able
to go back to eating, never. I just can’t because even the thought of it turns my stomach. Not that I don’t like
bacon or sausage, I just can’t eat it anymore because it is one thing that is so bad for us.
There have been many reports about the harms of antacids and acid reflux drugs over the years, but they have always been
ridiculed by the mass media and the medical community. Although it is known that acid inhibitors and similar drugs must only
be taken for a maximum of 2 months, many ignore the dangers and the side effect warnings.
Acid reflux is big business.
In 2006 alone Americans spent $942 million dollars on over-the-counter antacids, and a whopping 13.6 billion dollars on prescription
acid suppressants. It’s a drug company’s dream come true
But acid reflux is not a disease, as the drug companies
would have us believe. It is simply a condition, and one that can be healed.
The medical community would have us believe
that only drugs can treat acid reflux. This is simply not true –there are natural ways to treat this condition. After
years of suffering from acid reflux, I decided to do something about it. I stopped taking prescribed drugs and experimented
with natural home remedies. Through trial and error, using herbs, tonics, meditation and diet I did, indeed, cure himself.
The 3 Step Method – Natural Treatment for Acid Reflux
Step 1- Change you
diet – find what foods are good for you and which ones are actually making you sick. Acid reflux is not something
you “catch” like a cold, instead you develop it in time. What you are eating is a major factor to this
Step
2 – Change your lifestyle – eating only at specific hours and actually chewing your food teaches your
body the right time to release acid and for how long. Don’t eat at night and try having smaller meals that are easier
to digest.
Step 3 – Reduce stress – I know we live in struggling times, but when you’re
upset, the digestive system is the first to suffer from this. You’ve got to learn how to relax and have more fun.
Had
enough of choking on stomach acid and burning a hole in your chest? I pretty much had all my share of that.
According
to Shé D'Montford, Shambhallah, from Australia ‘The human body "WILL HEAL"... If we get out of our
own way and allow it, it heals itself. It is our basic nature. Anybody who tells you other than that is trying to sell you
something. No matter what you have been told. Don't give up on yourself and don't buy into the lines like ... ‘oh well
you've had a good life'... 'at your age'... and the worst of all ...'there's nothing further I can do, I suggest you finalize
your affairs'... How dare anyone tell you to give up! So much in society combines to convince us of the propaganda that some
things never get better. It's up to you ... do you want to get better? Make things better? It is human nature to make things
better, evolve and grow.”
